Garage transformation specialists in Nantwich

For those who have a rarely used garage, why not look at a conversion in Nantwich and make the most from the house. Take a look at up to 4 totally free quotes with our service and get the top price for a conversion.

One of the major benefits with a garage conversion would be that the space can be transformed quickly for the extra room you'll need, whether it's for a growing family or just to add to the price of your house.

A garage conversion means you won't have to move for extra space, which may save thousands of pounds on solicitor fees, estate agent payments and stamp duty. And the extra space can be changed into whatever you need, whether it's an extension to the living area or kitchen, or perhaps a separate room entirely.

With the structure already in place it's clear that a garage conversion will probably be cheaper than creating an extension also, and won't consume important space in your garden. With the exterior unlikely to change as well, it's a great way to bypass rules for conservation areas and also listed buildings.

Should you be thinking about converting your garage, look at quotes from companies in Nantwich making use of our quick and easy service to obtain the best deal available.

Nantwich

Nantwich is a market town and civil parish in the Borough of Cheshire East and the county of Cheshire, England. It lies on the Cheshire Plain, on the edges of the River Weaver. The Shropshire Union Canal passes through to the west of the town on an embankment, transversing the A534 by using an iron aqueduct, with the basin being a common mooring for visitors to the town. Nantwich is around 4 miles south-west of Crewe and 20 miles south-east of Chester. According to the 2011 census, Nantwich has a permanent population of about 17424 and is host to a vast array of diverse celebrations held during the course of the year. The International Cheese Awards are completed in Nantwich as a part of Nantwich Show, which is an annual farming showcase held at the Dorfold Hall estate in July. The 83000 square foot marquee which contains the awards has had up to 4425 separate cheese entries from about 26 countries. Another prominent celebration incorporating food is the yearly Nantwich Food Festival, which happens in the town centre over the first weekend in September. Revived as a free-entry festival in 2010, the festival draws plenty of artisan manufacturers from both the area and further afield, and provides chef demonstrations, family activities and entertainment. It attracts approximately 30000 visitors a year. The town is known for having the largest collection of historic buildings in the county. Many of the listed buildings can be found in the town centre, situated within the 38 hectares (94 acres) of conservation area, which primarily follows the boundaries of the late medieval and early post-medieval town. For all your home upgrades, make certain to make use of reputable specialists in Nantwich to make certain of quality.

FAQs

do you need an architect for a garage conversion?
Have you decided to convert that under-utilized space ( garage) in your home to a more habitable space where you can do anything asides general storage or parking a car? If yes, then you’d probably want to know where to start or if you’d require an architect to get started. Well, you’re not alone! This is one of the most frequently asked questions when it comes to garage conversions and reasonably so. Talking about where to get started, when it comes to home improvement projects the first step to take is determining whether or not you’d require a planning permission or if your proposed garage conversion is covered under permitted development rights. Once you’ve been able to conclude on that, the next step is deciding whether you’re going to complete the project yourself, hire the services of tradesmen or employing a builder. And this ultimately brings us to the question of whether you’ll need an architect for a garage conversion. To get started, it’s highly recommended that you employ the services of a professional architect or an architectural technologist to assist in designing your garage conversion. However, most garage conversion projects are straightforward with no complex changes to be made so far you wish to avoid applying for a planning permission and staying within the set guidelines of the permitted development rights. In such events, if you’re properly trained and well experienced in the field, then it may be cost effective to design your garage conversion by yourself. It should, however, be noted that it all depends on your personal preferences and budget. If you’re on tight budget and don’t mind a straightforward design, you can save cost by not hiring an architect.
how long does a garage conversion take?

Garage conversion is a great way to add extra usable space to your home without having to extend your property. A fun fact is that, in the UK if you have your car parked in the garage, you’re in the minority. According to a research carried out by Admiral Loans, just about 33 percent of home owners in the UK store their cars in the garage. For most people the garage is literally a dumping ground that’s never fully utilized as such. In recent times, the garage is now being used to store a variety of other stuffs asides a car which includes garden furniture, tools and appliances, utilities such as washing machine, fridge and freezer as well as food and groceries. These facts show that more and more people are underutilizing their garage when they may actually be in need of more usable space in their property. So why not put into consideration converting the garage into a new space that would be able to serve more purpose?

If you’ve decided to convert your garage, you’d probably want to know the how long the project will take. There are a wide range of factors that can determine the duration of a garage conversion project. These factors include:

• If the foundation needs reinforcing

• If the floors, walls, or roofs are in a bad condition.

• If the ceiling height needs some raising

• If the insulation required in newer builds.

All aforementioned factors will make the garage conversion project take longer than expected. However, in normal situations garage conversions are relatively quick to complete once you start the building works. A single-car conversion will usually take about 3 to 4 weeks to complete depending on the existing garage’s structure.

do i need planning permission for a garage conversion?

Are you thinking about converting your garage into a new space? Be it a new bedroom, gym, library or playroom, one thing you’ll have to consider before getting started is whether or not you’re going to require a planning permission. Unlike extensions that needs additional space, garage conversion is all about changing the existing structure of a space that’s already available to you - your garage. As a result, these projects are mostly covered by a planning policy that’s a bit different.

For a garage conversion, it’s very unlikely that you’ll need a planning permission. As a matter of fact, only 10 percent of garage conversions has been estimated to need a full planning permission, with the others coming under the permitted development rights. The permitted development rights, however, only provides coverage for home improvements that’s internal which implies that so far you’re not trying to enlarge your garage, you’ll not require a planning permission. But if otherwise, you’ll have to submit an application before commencing your project.

If you’re looking to comply with the permitted development rights, then your project must comply with some specific guidelines. These rules include the following:

• The work should be internal. No plans to enlarge or extend the existing garage.

• You should make sure that the materials used in carrying out the garage conversion is the same with the materials used in building the existing house.

• The building should not be extended.

You may, however, require a planning permission if you’re going to change a detached garage into a living space which could be a bedroom, small annexe or a living room.

Some houses excluded from the permitted development rights include flats, listed buildings, some new developments and most homes in a conservation area.

Will my garage conversion cause disruption to the rest of the house?

It shouldn’t do. Most companies will do all the interior work first, and the last job to do will be creating the opening from the house to the conversion. A reputable company will make sure they cause as little disruption as possible during this time.
