Meifod
Meifod, formerly likewise composed Meivod, is a small town, community as well as electoral ward 7 miles north-west of Welshpool in Montgomeryshire, Powys, Wales, on the A495 road and also situated in the valley of the River Vyrnwy. The River Banwy has a convergence with the Vyrnwy around two miles to the west of the town. 57% of the population of Meifod were born in England. However, this is not in itself proof of any large immigration from England; it might just reflect the preference of local parents for using bigger medical facilities more easily located in nearby Shropshire for delivering. The UK Census 2001 disclosed that some 38% of the population (1,322) over 3 years old had some understanding of the Welsh language with practically 20% able to talk, review as well as write in Welsh. The Meifod valley organized the National Eisteddfod in 2003 as well as 2015.
