Over time guttering can get filled by waste, leaves, or moss which can lead to leaks or damage to the guttering. Leaking or poorly draining guttering can cause further problems to the property including serious structural issues, so it is vital to have your guttering cleaned out if you think there may be any obstructions. Regular preventative cleaning will make sure that your guttering is collecting and diverting rainwater as effectively as possible. Cleaning guttering is often done by utilising specialist tools like telescopic hoses or high access vans, and professional guttering companies will be able to utilise this equipment to clear blockages and clean out the guttering system. Guttering blockages can result in a build up of water in the guttering itself. This is particularly troublesome in downpipes, where water can sit for a considerable period of time. In winter this water could freeze and cause serious damage to the guttering. Preventative gutter cleaning is vital to prevent this from happening. Specialist guttering companies can evaluate your gutter cleaning and maintenance needs and agree on a continuous routine of work with you, ensuring that they adhere to all health and safety requirements for working at height. The type and frequency of gutter cleaning can vary depending on the type of guttering you have as well as the positioning of any near by trees, but a general guide is that cleaning should be performed twice per year to make sure that your guttering remains in the best condition possible.
