Smart Thermostat in Daventry

Controlling the way your property is heated is one of the better ways to reduce high-priced energy bills and leave you with more disposable earnings at the end of each month. All things considered, 60% of your power bill is from heating your property, so it's definitely a good place to begin.

With the right controls you'll be able to keep your home at a comfy temperature, whilst at the same time not throwing away excess money on fuel. You'll also be able to keep your home co2 emissions down too.

The good news is, heating control systems can be used with any central heating boiler, regardless of design or age. This means there's a saving to make if you go out there and get it.

By installing a heating control system you will save between £70 and £150 annually. As well as this there are plenty of CO2 emissions to be decreased as well and you may slash between 310kg and 630kg each year.

Also think about the temperature you have your thermostat set on. By only turning it down just one degree, you can save as much as £75 annually and won't feel a difference in temperature either.

Daventry

Daventry is a market town in Northamptonshire. It is 76.4 miles north-northwest of London and 13.9 miles west of Rugby. Sitting in between 135 and 160 metres above sea level, it is surrounded by hillsides reaching heights of 225 metres. Daventry is situated on the watershed of the River Leam, which travels to the west of England, and the River Nene, which travels east. Having said that, there is not a river in the town and the most significant bodies of water originate from two tanks that feed the canal that swings from Watford Gap into the West Midlands through a 1.9 kilometre long Braunston Tunnel. Daventry is historically a rural town with a modest population, having around 4000 inhabitants in 1950. Expansion came about from 1955 when British Timken, the tapered roller bearing maker, set up a big factory in the town. Combined with being designated as an 'overspill' to settle people and industry from Birmingham in 1966 as part of an understanding with Birmingham City Council, the town continued to grow. There are a number housing estates, including Drayton, Middlemore Farm, Long Farm, Ashby Fields, Royal Oak, Timken, Stefen Hill, The Grange, The Southbrook and the Headlands. Even with such expansion, it did not reach the target population of 36000 by 1981, and the population of the town was recorded as 25026 in the 2011 Census. The contemporary property and commercial development surrounds the town's historic market centre. 74 landmarks and buildings in Daventry's town centre are on the List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest led by the Church of Holy Cross at Grade I, and buildings namely Market Place and the Danetre Hospital Offices are Grade II listed. For all your home upgrades, ensure to make use of respected experts in Daventry to make particular of quality.

how to install nest thermostat?

Installing your Nest thermostat may not be as easy as screwing a light bulb, but we can also assure you that it isn’t very difficult either. However, if you lack the needed training or experience to pull it off, we’d recommend you hire the services of a professional in order to save yourself some time and money. This guide will give you some quick and easy steps to follow and ensure you make no errors during the installation process.

Once installed removing the Nest Thermostat can be done. To get started, you’ll need just a Philips head screwdriver which Nest has thoughtfully provided with the device.

• Turn off the Nest Thermostat by switching the circuit breaker to the off position.

• Label or mark your old thermostat’s wires. However, if you notice your thermostat is tagged 120v or 240v, or possesses thick wires, do not connect the wires to the Nest as you have a high voltage system.

• Uninstall the old thermostat by locating detaching the wires coming out from the wall into the thermostat. Once done, simply unscrew the device from the wall

• Mark the spot of your thermostat. Do this by threading wires through the Nest base plate’s centre incorporate the tiny bubble level. Once done, you can then use a pencil to mark te two screw holes.

• Attach the trim plate. If you wish to cover the screw holes, simply install the trim plate in the Nest box’s bottom to the base plate.

• Using the screws and screwdriver, attach the Nest base to the wall.

• Connect the wires to the Nest by putting the labelled wires in the Nest’s corresponding ports.

• Put the Nest display by lining up the connector on the display’s back.

• Turn on the power by switching the circuit breaker to the on position

• Connect your Nest thermostat to the WiFi network.

does nest thermostat work with oil boiler?

The simple answer to this question is yes. The Google Nest thermostats are built in such way that makes it compatible with most 24V systems including the older systems. The device is functional with all common types of fuel such as electricity, natural gas as well as oil. However, before purchase it is vital to determine if your thermostat is also compatible. What’s more? The Nest thermostats is also designed to be usable even without the existence of a C wire (common wire) in your home, although a new C wire installation may be required.

Furthermore, Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with multiple central heating system such as combi boiler systems, air source and ground source heat pumps (heating only) as well as heat only boiler. Now let’s take a look at the Nest thermostat compatibility!

• The majority of the 24 V systems ( including older systems) are compatible with Google Nest thermostat. They can be incorporated with each and every common types of fuel such as oil, natural gas as well as electricity.

• Prior to the installation of Google Nest thermostat, you can make use of the Google Home or Nest app for proper guidance and to notify you if your system is compatible. It will also give you a bespoke thermostat wiring guide.

can you use hive with an oil boiler?

Smart controls such as Hive are the next generation technology with more and more people now converting their houses into smart homes to control multiple devices in the homes remotely. Smart technology can be incorporated with several household devices such as security, lighting, entertainment and more. But what if there’s an oil boiler installed in your home, can you still connect your Hive with the your heating? Well, simply read on to find out.

The answer to this question is yes, most oil boilers are compatible with Hive and can substitute for either an existing conventional programmer or thermostat. The smart technology works to help derive more benefits from your heating system and they usually come with apps which can be used to control your home’s heating from anywhere with just your mobile device. Hive, however, cannot work to replace the functions of smart oil boiler heating controls to modulate your heating as they only work on an on or off basis. To make use of the modulating technology in an oil boiler, the cost of manufacture would be considerably higher while offering little advantage in efficiency for the home or property owner. Ultimately, this implies that you can’t incorporate smart technology to control the output in a similar way as a gas boiler, but there are still some ways to utilize smart technology with your oil boiler in such a way to boost your efficiency and lessen the energy bills.

Do you want to use your Hive with your home’s oil boiler? We’d advise you get in touch with an OFTEC qualified engineer if you wish to install Hive Active Heating on your oil boiler, as British Gas engineer do not offer this service.
