Sanquhar
Sanquhar is a town on the River Nith in Dumfries and also Galloway, Scotland. It exists north of Thornhill and west of Moffat. It is a previous Royal Burgh. Sanquhar is remarkable for its little post office, developed in 1712 and held to be the oldest working post office worldwide. It was also the area where the Covenanters, who opposed episcopalisation of the church, signed the Sanquhar Declaration relinquishing their allegiance to the King, an occasion honored by a monument generally road. The church of St Brides includes a memorial to James Crichton, a 16th-century polymath. The ruins of Sanquhar Castle stand neighboring. Nithsdale Wanderers, the local team, were developed in 1897. In 1924-- 25, Wanderers won the Scottish Division 3.
