Your LPG storage tank will need to go outside your property, possibly underground if you have limited space. There are planning rules that restrict where you can put your tank, especially if your property is listed or on designated land. Take a look at our planning permission article to find out more.
Dumbarton
Translating as 'fort of the Britons', Dumbarton is a town in West Dunbartonshire. It is on the north bank of the River Clyde where the River Leven encounters the Clyde estuary in Scotland. Traditionally, Dumbarton was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Alclud, and afterwards the county town of Dunbartonshire, being a Royal burgh in between 1222 and 1975. Standing over the town is Dumbarton Castle, situated on top of Dumbarton Rock, which has a long history, recognised primarily for its significant part in the War of Independence by being the prison of William Wallace after his capture by the English. As a Scheduled Ancient Monument, Dumbarton Rock is legally protected from any sort of work happening on the rock, including forbiding such activities as rock climbing. Dumbarton was bombed on a large scale through the 2nd World War, as the German air force was targeting shipyards, with Clyde and Leven Street being profoundly affected. Decoy lights were regularly put on the Kilpatrick hills over the town and on tanks in the effort to imitate those of the shipyards and to outwit the bombers, which had a fair amount of success. Although Dumbarton was known for its shipbuilding, glassmaking and whisky production, the decrease of these markets in the 20th century has meant that it is predominantly a commuter town for its 20527 residents. The town is home to Dumbarton F.C., playing in the Scottish Professional Football League at Scottish Championship level. The Denny Civic Theatre is used by a variety of local groups, such as the Dumbarton People's Theatre who put on various performances.
