Bingley
Bingley is a market town within the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford situated in West Yorkshire, England. The town sits on the River Aire and also the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and is situated in Airedale on the south of Ilkley Moor. The population has recently witnessed a decrease, having a population of about 19,884 in 2001 and lowering to 18,294 as recorded in the 2011 Census. The definition of the town's name is often thought to be 'Bing's Clearing' and originates from the Saxon language. The town's initial settlement served the ford across the River Aire at the narrowest point of the Aire Valley, and Ireland Bridge was created in 1986 with the intention of replacing the ford. A lot of the older history of the town is still present in the town, such as the Bingley Grammar School, founded in the sixteenth century, which is believed to be one of the oldest schools in the country. Bingley boasts an abundance of local retailers, a street market, banks as well as the 'Little Theatre'. There are also efficient transport links available, with a railway station situated in the town centre plus the Leeds Bradford Airport close by. Barges on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal navigate the Bingley Five Rise Locks, with tourists often viewing barges navigating the locks. Because of its mainly unspoilt habitat, walking and biking in the town proves popular, and golfers can play at the Bingley St. Ives Golf Club. An annual music festival, Bingley Music Live, is hosted from Myrtle Park, providing a selection of good quality music which attracts a significant audience. For all of your home upgrades, ensure that you choose vetted pros in Bingley to make sure that you get the very best quality service.
