Droitwich

Droitwich Spa is a town in the north of the county of Worcestershire. Located on the River Salwarpe containing large deposits of salt, the extraction of salt has actually been a venture occurring from the ancient period. The natural Droitwich salt water has two and a half pounds of salt per gallon, which is 10 times stronger than sea water. In the 19th century, John Corbett, the son of a Black Country barge owner, established the town's spa facilities after the downturn of the salt business. The Droitwich Spa Lido was a particularly popular leisure attraction, which was set up in the 1930s as a public open air salt water swimming pool. Although the Lido was closed in the late 1990s, improvements in 2006 allowing the resuming of the centre in the summer of 2007 has enabled the Lido to continue as an enjoyable and appealing amusement. Droitwich is within Wychavon, a local government district that was the only area in the Midlands to appear in the Halifax 'Quality of Life Survey' in 2011, which was ranked as Sixth overall. A plethora of leisure activities are available for the growing 22585 residents documented in the 2011 census. This consists of the possibilities offered by the Droitwich Canal Network for walkers and cyclists, the large number of independent and high street sellers, along with numerous markets regularly occurring in the town. Festivals happen throughout the year, and performances can be seen all year round at the Norbury Theatre. For all of your house upgrades, make sure to make use of reputable professionals in Droitwich Spa to make certain of quality.
