Llandinam
Llandinam is a town and community in Montgomeryshire, Powys, main Wales, in between Newtown and Llanidloes, located on the A470. As a neighborhood, Llandinam is composed of the town itself, tiny districts including Plas Dinam and also Little London as well as numerous farms. Llandinam was the family home of David Davies who was in charge of much of the advancement of the South Wales Valleys and also the export of coal in the 19th century. The house that David Davies constructed, Broneirion, continues to be a classy country mansion had by Girlguiding Cymru. The moms and dads of Murray Humphreys, among Chicago's the majority of feared Prohibition gangsters, emigrated to the USA from the village in the late 1890s. The bridge from the highway over in the direction of Broneirion was the first cast iron bridge created in the area, designed by Thomas Penson and also constructed by Davies 1846. It covers 90 feet (27.5 m). At the eastern end of the bridge there is a sculpture of David Davies. Gordonstoun college was evacuated right here for the duration of The second world war. The neighborhood town school was endangered with closure in 2003 as a result of dropping pupil numbers; thanks to a popular regional project it was temporarily saved. An electoral ward in the very same name exists, which also covers the adjoining community of Mochdre. The population of this ward at the 2011 demographics was 1,405. It elected its first Conservative County Councillor in May 2017.
