Penarth

Penarth is a town in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. It is located 5.2 miles south west from the city centre of the Welsh capital city of Cardiff and it is on the north shore of the Severn Estuary at the southern end of Cardiff Bay. With a population of 22083, it is the second largest town in the Vale of Glamorgan, coming second to the administrative centre of Barry, and Penarth is the seaside resort with the most wealth in the Cardiff Urban Area. The town was a rather popular vacation location during the majority of the Victorian period, frequently referred to as 'The Garden by the Sea', with the highest percentage of visitors journeying from the Midlands and the West County, along with day trippers from the South Wales valleys who took a trip by train. Despite the fact that the town continues to be a popular vacation destination in the summer, with its traditional seafront mostly intact, the number of visitors is much lower than was common in between the Victorian period and the middle of the 20th century, particularly once reasonably priced bundle vacations overseas appeared. Regardless, the town maintains a large retired population, representing over 25 percent of residents, and it is predominantly a dormitory town for Cardiff commuters. However, landmarks and tourist attractions still preserve a steady flow of visitors to the town over the course of the year. Cosmeston Lakes County Park has been a popular choice since its establishment in the 1970s, which has acres of walks and woodlands on the heath. Cosmeston Mediaeval Village, which offers historical re-enactments, allows visitors to check out a reconstruction of a historical village and has actually been referred to as the finest of its type in Britain.
