Waltham Abbey

Waltham Abbey is a market town in Epping Forest District in the southwest of the area of Essex. It is positioned on the Greenwich Meridian, between the River Lea in the west and Epping Forest in the east, with a population of 20,400. The town's name stems from the Abbey Church of Waltham Holy Cross, a set up ancient monument that was of value in the town's earlier background. Waltham Abbey is approximated to be about 60 to 90 metres over water level, with the elevation of several locations being covered by the sand as well as gravel from Epping Forest. Waltham Abbey church consists of the towns as well as halmets of High Beach, Holyfield, Sewardstone and Upshire. The M25 freeway experiences the south of the town via the center of the parish as well as is accessed at Junction 26. In the early 20th century, the town teemed with glass houses as well as market yards. An important industry in the Lea Valley was gravel extraction, which has left a legacy of pits that remain to be made use of for recreational objectives and as a substantial environment for wild animals. Waltham Abbey's population started to enhance in the 1960s as well as throughout the 1970s. This was, partially, as a result of an extensive plan of clearances as well as redevelopment in the community centre, incorporated with the building and construction of housing estates on the borders. As a result of the community's close proximity to the M25, it has actually become a dorm town, although it continues to be the residence of some light market. Much checked out is the Epping Forest Conservation Centre in High Beach, which supplies info, maps, books, cards, display screens and also guidance for visitors to the location.
