East Cowes
East Cowes is a town and civil parish to the north of the Isle of Wight, on the east bank of the River Medina next to its neighbour on the west financial institution, Cowes. Both communities are connected by the Cowes Drifting Bridge, a chain ferryboat run by the Isle of Wight Council. East Cowes is the site of Norris Castle, and Osborne House, the former summer home of Queen Victoria as well as Prince Albert. The Prince had a major impact on the design of the location, for instance on the building of St Mildred's Church in close-by Whippingham, which includes distinct turrets copying those discovered on a German castle.
