Wigton
Wigton is a market town in Cumbria, England. Historically in Cumberland, it lies simply outside the Lake District in the district of Allerdale. Wigton goes to the centre of the Solway Plain, between the Caldbeck Fells as well as the Solway coast. It is offered by Wigton railway station on the Cumbrian Coast Line, and also the A596 road to Workington. The town of Silloth-on-Solway lies twelve miles to the west, past Abbeytown. Wigton today is a prospering market community, with livestock auctions being held routinely at Hopes Auction Company. The primary employer is Innovia Films. The community has its own high school, called The Nelson Thomlinson College, which is a well-performing comprehensive with close links to the Innovia factory. In 2004 the town was the very first negotiation in the UK to impose a time limit on young adults under the age of 16. It remained in area for two weeks, as well as its purpose was to lower the amount of vandalism in the town centre. It followed nightly criminal damage projects, that included shattered store fronts, in addition to intimidation of elderly members of the neighborhood. The curfew attracted national interest, with the regional secondary school getting sees from firms such as Sky News. It had some effect, with much less criminal damage taking place ever since.
