The city features a rich heritage going back hundreds of years and because of this particular architectural history was selected as Europe's Tourism City of the Year in 2007. Combined with the medieval, Tudor and Stuart period properties there's also a number of modern housing areas, creating a varied spread throughout the city as well as its encompassing suburbs.
