Cardigan
Cardigan is a town and area in the county of Ceredigion in Wales. The town rests on a tidal reach of the River Teifi at the point where Ceredigion, previously Cardiganshire, satisfies Pembrokeshire. Cardigan was the county town of the historical region and is the second-largest community in Ceredigion. The biggest community, Aberystwyth, is just one of the two administrative centres; the other being Aberaeron. The negotiation at Cardigan was established around the Norman castle integrated in the late 11th or very early 12th century. The castle was the place of the initial National Eisteddfod in 1176. The town came to be an essential port in the 18th century, however declined by the early 20th century owing to its shallow harbour. The castle went through restoration in 2014. The population in 2001 was 4,203, lowering slightly to 4,184 at the 2011 census. Modern Cardigan is a compact and also busy town, having the majority of the facilities for retail, education and learning, health, prayer and sporting activity.
