Manningtree
Manningtree is a community as well as civil church in the Tendring area of Essex, England, which pushes the River Stour. It adjoins built-up areas of Lawford to the west as well as Mistley to the east and also the three churches together are occasionally referred to as "Manningtree". Manningtree is a complaintant for the title of tiniest community in England. Manningtree has generally asserted to be the tiniest town in England, as well as in 2007 mayor Lee Lay-Flurrie said that this had been confirmed to her by the Census Customer Services, with 700 people in 20 hectares (making use of the high tide mark). However both this figure and the 2011 census population for the civil church of 900 is a lot greater than the 351 population of Fordwich in Kent. In April 2009 it was suggested that Manningtree needs to combine with Mistley as well as Lawford to develop a single church, shedding its separate identity as a town. As of 2018 such a merging has actually not taken place and also the community council currently declares to be the tiniest by area. Manningtree belongs to the selecting ward called Manningtree, Mistley, Litte Bentley and Tendring. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 4,603.
