Sanquhar
Sanquhar is a community on the River Nith in Dumfries as well as Galloway, Scotland. It exists north of Thornhill and west of Moffat. It is a previous Royal Burgh. Sanquhar is significant for its small post office, established in 1712 as well as held to be the earliest working post office in the world. It was likewise the location where the Covenanters, who opposed episcopalisation of the church, signed the Sanquhar Declaration renouncing their allegiance to the King, an occasion honored by a monument generally road. The church of St Brides consists of a memorial to James Crichton, a 16th-century polymath. The ruins of Sanquhar Castle stand neighboring. Nithsdale Wanderers, the regional group, were developed in 1897. In 1924-- 25, Wanderers won the Scottish Division Three.
