Edenbridge is a town and civil parish in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. Its name derives from Old English Eadhelmsbrigge (definition "Eadhelm's Bridge"). It lies on the Kent/ Surrey approach the top floodplain of the River Medway as well as gives its name to the latter's tributary, the River Eden. The community has a population of around 9,000. Edenbridge is twinned with Mont-Saint-Aignan in France. The bypass that was integrated in the very early 2000s to relieve traffic stress on the old, slim High Street is called Mont St Aignan Way. There are 2 banks in the town, a post office beside the church as well as a variety of major retail chains. Regardless of being a reasonably village, Edenbridge boasts its very own healthcare facility - The Edenbridge War Memorial Hospital. Initially a home healthcare facility constructed to take care of soldiers returning from The First World War, an objective developed structure was established to the south of the town in 1931. With an Out Patients Department, Physical rehabilitation centers as well as a Minor Injuries Unit the hospital is a major part of the material of the community. In recent times the hospital has actually been confronted with closure often times, on each event it has actually been saved by regional campaigners and also townspeople, that see the hospital as an important part of the community.
