Beauly
Beauly is a community in the Kilmorack Church of the Scottish Region of Inverness, on the River Beauly, 10 miles (16 kilometres) west of Inverness by the Far North train line. The town is currently within the Highland council area. The land around Beauly is fertile - traditionally corn was expanded thoroughly and extra recently fruit has effectively been farmed. The community historically traded in coal, hardwood, lime, grain and fish. In January 2010, the Scottish government approved controversial plans for a high-voltage line upgrade that will begin in Beauly and end in Denny, Falkirk. The brand-new power line, part of a plan to lug electrical power created by wind farms on the Western Isles, was called "the most considerable grid infrastructure task in a generation" by Jim Mather MSP. The 220-kilometre (140 mi) line will include a network of 600 pylons, varying in height from 42 to 65 metres (138 to 213 feet). The very first part of the transmission circuit (Beauly to Ft Augustus) was activated in July 2013. The population of Beauly was 1,126 in 1991, 1,283 in 2001 and 1,365 in 2011.
