Cardigan
Cardigan is a town as well as community in the county of Ceredigion in Wales. The community rests on a tidal reach of the River Teifi at the point where Ceredigion, previously Cardiganshire, fulfills Pembrokeshire. Cardigan was the county town of the historic region and is the second-largest community in Ceredigion. The largest town, Aberystwyth, is one of both administrative centres; the various other being Aberaeron. The negotiation at Cardigan was developed around the Norman castle constructed in the late 11th or early 12th century. The castle was the place of the initial National Eisteddfod in 1176. The town became an essential port in the 18th century, yet declined by the early 20th century owing to its shallow harbour. The castle undertook remediation in 2014. The population in 2001 was 4,203, minimizing somewhat to 4,184 at the 2011 census. Modern Cardigan is a compact and active community, having most of the facilities for retail, education, wellness, worship as well as sporting activity.
