Antrim
Translating as 'lone ridge', Antrim is a town and civil parish in County Antrim in the northeast of Northern Ireland. It is in around the banks of the Six Mile Water, half a mile from Lough Neagh. It is the county town of County Antrim and before this, was the administrative home of Antrim Borough Council. There are numerous divisions and suburbs of Antrim, a number of which include Ballycraigy, Carnbeg, Caulside, Dublin Road, Greenvale, Greystone, Islandbawn, Meadowlands, Muckamore, Newpark, Niblock, and the Folly. With a population of 20001, Antrim is classified as a large town by the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. Inside this population, 23.1% were under 16 years old and 15.7 percent were aged 60 and over. 48.6% of the population were male and 51.4 percent were female. Quite a few buildings in the town are of historical significance, especially close to the High Street. This includes the courthouse, a 19th-century smithy on Bridge Street, which has a special horseshoe entrance, Shane's Castle and Antrim Castle, the Castle Grounds, along with the Springfarm Rath. Renovations on Antrim Market House, a 2-storey building which is 9 bays long, 3 deep, constructed in 1726, are presently being undertaken. This will contain Antrim Information Centre, relocating it from its spot on the High Street, plus a multi-functional auditorium so as to create an area for quite a few functions, such as theatre and music productions. As a result of being on the banks of a river, the linen business came to prominence in Antrim, though this was affected by the decline in the industry through the 20th century. It has been replaced by Northern Ireland's Technology Park. For all your home improvement work, make certain that you use trustworthy professionals in Antrim to ensure that you get the best quality.
