Biggleswade
Biggleswade is a market town and civil parish on the River Ivel inside the English county of Bedfordshire. It is positioned forty miles north of Central London and 20 miles from Cambridge. Settlements in close proximity to Biggleswade are considered to have been in existence from around 10000 BC, which is supported by archaeological evidence, such as ancient arrowheads that have been discovered in the town. As per the 2011 Census, the town had a permanent population of roughly 16,500. Because of efficient transport links, being situated along the A1 road between London and the North, at the same time as getting a railway station on the most important rail link North from London, the population has increased by nearly 10% during the last ten years. This progress is predicted to carry on due to new housing developments. Traditionally, Biggleswade was a vegetable growing area with a lot of the produce being taken to marketplaces in London, like Covent Garden. While much of the trade has closed, Bedfordshire Growers, situated on the town's outskirts, still provide the main supermarkets in the United Kingdom with potatoes and onions grown in Biggleswade. Biggleswade is also home to the headquarters for Jordan's cereals, a company that creates numerous varieties of muesli and granola. Sports and leisure activities play a serious role in the local community.
