Manningtree
Manningtree is a community as well as civil parish in the Tendring district of Essex, England, which pushes the River Stour. It joins built-up areas of Lawford to the west and also Mistley to the east as well as the 3 parishes with each other are sometimes described as "Manningtree". Manningtree is a claimant for the title of smallest town in England. Manningtree has traditionally claimed to be the smallest town in England, and also in 2007 mayor Lee Lay-Flurrie stated that this had been verified to her by the Census Customer Services, with 700 individuals in 20 hectares (using the high tide mark). Nevertheless both this figure and also the 2011 census population for the civil church of 900 is a lot more than the 351 population of Fordwich in Kent. In April 2009 it was suggested that Manningtree needs to combine with Mistley and Lawford to create a single parish, shedding its separate identification as a town. As of 2018 such a merging has actually not taken place as well as the community council currently declares to be the smallest by area. Manningtree belongs to the electoral ward called Manningtree, Mistley, Litte Bentley and also Tendring. The population of this ward at the 2011 census was 4,603.
