Fencing in Banbridge

Are you interested in getting fencing installed in Banbridge? Using the Quotatis service it's possible to assess up to four fencing installers to get the top deal available for the work you want.

Fencing is extremely important for all properties no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From repair work to a complete installation of new fencing, employing a trustworthy contractor is highly recommended to get the best price available.

Fencing act as a perimeter to our households and with an installation you'll add more protection to your property and prevent easy access to your back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally close to six feet high, which right away will make it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing tend to be most appropriate for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to opt for a front garden fence specifically for decoration and also to add something different.

For whatever type of fencing you're looking to have installed, make sure to make use of our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Banbridge.

Banbridge

The town of Banbridge is within Northern Ireland's County Down. It's situated on the River Bann and a dual carriageway, with its name derived from a bridge that was built across the River Bann in 1712. It's a part of the civil parish of Seapatrick plus the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Upper Half. Banbridge is at present the administrative centre for the Banbridge District Council. With reference to the 2011 Census, the town has a permanent population of roughly 16653. It is classed as a medium town and of the population, 24.4 percent were under 16 years old, 16.1% were more than 60 years of age, and 49.5% were male, leaving 50.5 percent as female. The town emerged as a coach stop for the road between Belfast and Dublin, and it prospered from the manufacture of Irish linen. A noteworthy feature of the town is its distinctive main street, which rises to a steep hill ahead of levelling out. An underpass had to be constructed in 1834 because of the steep street causing horses carrying heavy loads to faint before they got to the top of the hill. Constructed by William Dargan, it is officially called the Downshire Bridge, while it's regularly referred to as 'The Cut'. The town is extensively known for being near to the Bronte Homeland in Rathfriland, attracting many guests because of this. An additional attraction is the annual busking festival, 'Buskfest', which has been running since 2004. Participants have frequently travelled lengthy distances to busk, and the competition ends with an evening concert including performances by recognised artists. For all your house upgrades, ensure that you use vetted pros in Banbridge to ensure you get the very best quality service.

    FAQs

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.

Do I need to tell my neighbours if I’m going to replace my fence?

It’s a good idea to talk to your neighbours before you start any work to avoid confusion along the way. But if the fence is definitely your responsibility and on your property, there’s no legal obligation to notify them. It’s also a myth that you need to erect a fence with the flush side without posts facing your neighbour’s property.

How do I find out who owns a fence?

Speaking to the owners of the neighbouring properties is recommended. If you are still unsure, you may need to check the original deeds to the property. Generally the rule is that you are responsible for the fence at the right hand side of your property.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
