Fencing in Catterick Garrison

Interested in having fencing installed in Catterick Garrison? By using the Quotatis service you are able to compare as many as four fence companies to get the best deal available for the task you need.

Fencing is important for all houses whether it's the front or back garden. From restoration work to a total installation of new fencing, using a trustworthy company is highly recommended to get the best price available.

Fences act as a border to our homes and with an installation you'll add more security to your home and stop easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally close to six feet high, which straight away makes it tougher for intruders to gain access.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing will often be most suitable for the front garden, where security isn't as important. Instead, you're more likely to choose a front garden fence specifically for decoration in order to add something different.

For whatever style of fencing you're looking to have installed, ensure that you use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Catterick Garrison.

Catterick Garrison

Catterick Garrison is a significant garrison and town situated 3 miles south of Richmond in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. The town lies in the Central Richmondshire electoral division of North Yorkshire County Council and divided among the Hipswell and Scotton wards of Richmondshire District Council. The town is divided among two civil parishes. The southern part of the town, south of a little stream generally known as Leadmill Gill, is within the civil parish of Scotton. The northern part forms the greater part of the civil parish of Hipswell. Every parish has its own parish council. It's the biggest British Army garrison in the world, having a population of around 13000 and measuring over 2400 acres. The original intention for Catterick was to become a temporary camp to accommodate two comprehensive divisions with around 40000 men in 2000 huts. However, under plans announced by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in November 2005, the population of Catterick Garrison is expected to develop to over 25000 by 2020, making it the biggest population centre within the local area. Lacking a real town centre, the Garrison gained its first significant supermarket in 2000, as well as a retail park known as 'Richmondshire Walk', which also includes a McDonalds, a Poundstretcher as well as a Peacocks, among other shops. 'Catterick Leisure Centre' is a purpose built centre opposite the retail park, opened in July 2009, and it presents a broad spectrum of leisure and fitness facilities including a swimming pool, as well as a fitness centre, along with an adjoining public library. For all of your home upgrades, be sure that you employ trustworthy pros in Catterick Garrison to ensure you get the very best quality.

    FAQs

Do I need to tell my neighbours if I’m going to replace my fence?

It’s a good idea to talk to your neighbours before you start any work to avoid confusion along the way. But if the fence is definitely your responsibility and on your property, there’s no legal obligation to notify them. It’s also a myth that you need to erect a fence with the flush side without posts facing your neighbour’s property.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
How to tell which fence is yours?

If there’s a fence dividing yours and your neighbour’s properties that needs maintaining or replacing, you’ll want to know who owns it. Start by checking your deeds to see if there’s an existing boundary agreement. If there isn’t, have a chat with them to see if you can come to an arrangement yourselves.

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.
