Fencing in Flint

Are you considering getting fencing installed in Flint? With the Local Quotes service you'll be able to look at up to 4 fence companies in order to get the best deal available for the task you want.

Fencing is important for all houses no matter whether it's the front or back garden. From repair work to a total installation of new fencing, employing a respectable company is highly recommended to get the very best price available.

Fencing work as a boundary to our properties and with an installation you'll add more protection to your property and prevent easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally close to 6 feet high, which instantly will make it tougher for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing will often be most appropriate for the front garden, where security isn't as paramount. Instead, you're more likely to select a front garden fence particularly for decoration and to add something different.

For whatever type of fencing you're looking to have installed, make certain to make use of our totally free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Flint.

Flint

Flint is a town in Flintshire, Wales, laying on the estuary of the River Dee. Flint is situated in north-east Wales, adjoining the River Dee, to the north of the town of Mold. Over the River Dee, the Wirral can be seen from Flint and views to the south of the town feature Halkyn Mountain. Flint is found less than 12 miles from the English city area of Liverpool, and even closer to its metro location. Nevertheless, thanks to the two bays and rivers between, driving distance is practically twice as long. The name relates to the stoney platform on which the castle was constructed, and was initially chronicled in 1277 in the French form 'le Chaylou'. Flint has the oldest town charter in Wales, dating from 1284. It was formerly Flintshire's county town, and is today the third largest town in the county. In accordance with the 2001 Census, the permanent resident population of the area of Flint was 12804, which increased to 12953 at the 2011 Census. About 18 per cent of the regional population identified themselves as Welsh, although the census had no tick box enabling them to do so. In 2011, Welsh identity was featured and 57.1 per cent reported that they had Welsh, Welsh and British or other combined identity. Lots of people in Flint have some knowledge of the Welsh language, although skill does differ. English is the principal spoken language to be heard around the town. Among the town's most striking images is the group of 3 tower blocks of flats near the town centre, which were constructed in the 1960s. For all your home improvements, make certain to find trusted experts in Flint to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

    How much does fencing cost?

The most basic fencing starts at about £27 per panel. But if you want something that’s more decorative and better quality, expect to budget £30-£40 per panel. If you choose to get a professional to help you put up your fencing, they’ll probably be able to get your panels at a cheaper rate.

How do I find out who owns a fence?

Speaking to the owners of the neighbouring properties is recommended. If you are still unsure, you may need to check the original deeds to the property. Generally the rule is that you are responsible for the fence at the right hand side of your property.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
