Fencing in Lancashire

Searching for wooden fencing contractors in Lancashire? Our wooden fence contractors in Lancashire are able to offer you the ideal quotations to have wood fencing installed.

Fencing is required for both domestic and business buildings for many different reasons. It acts as a boundary for back gardens and private land, acting as a measure of privacy as well as to keep people and animals in or out.

Perks of wooden fencing include further house protection and aesthetic appeal. By having a fence in place, it will become harder for trespassers to get into your household and garden. Be certain to pick out a design that will look great as well, particularly if for house reasons.

We're able to provide you with up to four wood fencing fitters in your town, who'll supply quotations for the work you'd like done. You'll receive a household visit from specialists in Lancashire who'll help you select the right design and style for your house prior to carrying out the installation.

The fitting of a wooden fence will take less than one day to complete, based on the size of area you'd like protected.

Average Wooden fencing cost in Lancashire

The regular cost of a new or replacement fence is approximately £20-£45 per foot, not including removing your existing fence which could cost an extra £5-10 per foot. The labour costs depend on the length and height of your fence, the number of posts and the material used. It will also differ among regions, so it's best to get a few quotes to see what the best price is in your area.

Lancashire

The county of Lancashire, found in the north west of England, carries a population of practically 1.5 million, being the 8th most populated region in Britain. The large areas of Blackburn and Blackpool no longer form part of the Lancashire County after becoming unitary authorities. The cities of Liverpool and Manchester were also detached in 1974. The county districts now include Burnley, Lancaster, Preston, the Ribble Valley, Rossendale, Wyre, Pendle and Hyndburn. Regardless of the substantial population, Lancashire contains a fairly low density compared to other counties and regions, with only 1,121 residents per square mile. Transform your Lancashire property by making use of vetted and respectable professionals locally.

    FAQs

What types of garden fencing are available?

There are quite a few different types of garden fencing that are readily available, so you’ll have plenty to choose from. If you’ve got a strict budget, waney edge panel fencing is a good option. It’s made up of horizontal wood strips and is generally the cheapest type of fencing. Another good option is closed feather-edge panels. These are a really strong type of fence, made up of concrete posts and panels of vertical strips of wood. You can also get more decorative types of fencing with combinations of vertical and horizontal wood strips.

Fence ownership: who owns that garden fence?

When it comes to fence ownership and responsibility, this is often a subject of dispute between neighbours and understandably so. Owning a fence comes with a number of responsibilities such as arranging and paying for the maintenance and more. Therefore, if you’re not yet sure who owns the garden fence, then you’d probably want to have that sorted to make sure your property stays protected at all times. In this post, we’re going to give you an insight into some of the rules guiding fence ownership in order to help you make informed decisions. Let’s take a look!

There’s no rule of thumb on whether you own the fence on the right hand or the left hand side of your property. Therefore, if you’ve heard any “rules that states otherwise, you can fling that out the window because not everyone will own the left hand side to their fence. The first way to determine who owns the garden fence or which side of the fence you’re responsible for is simply by looking. Although this is not guaranteed or a definite way to determine ownership, it can go a long way to give you a good idea. As you would have expected, fences are most likely built on the land that belongs to the boundary’s owner with the further edge of the fence making the actual boundary. As a result, you can determine a fence ownership simply by identifying where the frames are.

Also, you can determine fence ownership using the title deeds for an official and accurate answer. A copy should be given alongside your paperwork which is received when purchasing your house.

Do I need planning permission for fences?

Not if they are under 1 metre high if next to a road or 2 metres high elsewhere. It’s always recommended to check with your neighbours and the local authority if you are unsure. Other restrictions may apply, for example if a fence might impact driver visibility on nearby roads.

How to tell which fence is yours?

If there’s a fence dividing yours and your neighbour’s properties that needs maintaining or replacing, you’ll want to know who owns it. Start by checking your deeds to see if there’s an existing boundary agreement. If there isn’t, have a chat with them to see if you can come to an arrangement yourselves.
