Ashbourne

Ashbourne is a market town in the Derbyshire Dales in England. As a result of its proximity to the southern edge of the Peak District and being the nearest town to the popular area of Dovedale, the town is referred to as both the 'Gateway to Dovedale' and the 'Gateway to the Peak District'. Due to this tourism has constantly been important for the town's economy. As outlined by the 2011 Census, the town boasts a resident population of around 8377 people. It includes lots of historical buildings and several independent shops and is well-known for its traditional annual Shrovetide football match. The cobbled marketplace hosts a traditional outside market each Thursday and Saturday throughout the year, complementing the large array of individual shops within the town. While its market heritage is significant, Ashbourne's market was under threat of closure from Derbyshire County Council in November 2012. Residents of Ashbourne have stood against any such moves by the council and began an online petition. Ashbourne became the 97th Fairtrade Town in March 2005 soon after a lot of local companies, cafes, shops and community organisations began supporting Fairtrade. Ashbourne has a large variety of public houses for such a small town centre. Currently, you will find ten pubs open, in addition to two social clubs. The well-known and rare 'gallows' sign across St John's Street is still central meeting point within the town. Local historians have noted that nearly 1 in 4 buildings in the town have at one time or another been an alehouse, pub or inn or underwent renovations on the site of such an establishment. For all your home improvements, make certain that you employ vetted experts in Ashbourne to ensure that you get the best quality service.

FAQs

Can I use a biomass boiler with other forms of heating?

Biomass boilers can be designed to work with other kinds of heating. The most common of these is solar thermal. This is a popular renewable energy pairing. Solar thermal heating will meet your hot water needs during the summer while a biomass boiler can operate as a backup during the winter when solar thermal panels do not perform as well.

Is a biomass boiler compatible with my existing central heating system?

Biomass boilers will work with existing central heating systems, presuming this is not decades old, whether they use radiators or under floor heating. A surveyor will check the existing system you have in place before quoting for or recommending a biomass boiler to you.

Do biomass boilers need lots of maintenance?

Biomass boilers do require some maintenance. Many manufacturers recommend servicing twice a year, although this is often included in the installation cost. Many systems have automatic fuel loading that removes the need to manually load fuel. You will need to remove the ash from the boiler, but this is as easy as emptying a vacuum cleaner.

Do biomass boilers take up lots of space?

Many domestic biomass boilers are no bigger than a standard gas boiler. However, they do require a flue, a feeder and a space to store the fuel. These can be designed to suit many different properties and will fit in lots of homes or a garage or outbuilding.
