Market Rasen

Market Rasen is a town and civil parish within the West Lindsey area of Lincolnshire, England. The River Rase goes through it east to west, around 13 miles (21 kilometres) north-east from Lincoln, 18 miles (29 kilometres) east from Gainsborough and 16 miles (26 kilometres) south-west from Grimsby. The community is known for Market Rasen Racecourse and being close to the epicentre of a 2008 earthquake. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 3,904. Market Rasen is a tiny market community on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The community rests on the highway between Lincoln as well as Grimsby, the A46 and is on National Cycle Route 1 (part of EuroVelo 12) of the National Cycle Network. The place-name 'Market Rasen' is first testified in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it appears as Rase, Rasa as well as Resne. The name originates from the Old English ræsn meaning 'slab', and is thought to refer to a plank bridge. The river name 'Rase' is a back-formation. Originally "Rasen", as it is recognized in your area, was called "East Rasen", "Rasen Parva" or "Little Rasen". The community centre has a homogeneous 19th-century redbrick appearance of primarily Georgian and Victorian architecture, centred on a market area with a medieval church, restored in the 19th century. The River Rase streams via the town as well as is crossed by Jameson Bridge, Caistor Road Bridge and also Crane Bridge. Market days are Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On each Tuesday there is a public auction of goods and also create, as well as on the initial Tuesday of monthly, a farmers' market. Every Friday the Women's Institute holds a country market. Market Rasen's area fire as well as police station opened up December 2005. It is just one of the first purpose-built consolidated fire and police stations in the UK. In 2011 it was just one of the towns chosen for the Portas Evaluation of sectarian selling service.

FAQs

Can I use a biomass boiler with other forms of heating?

Biomass boilers can be designed to work with other kinds of heating. The most common of these is solar thermal. This is a popular renewable energy pairing. Solar thermal heating will meet your hot water needs during the summer while a biomass boiler can operate as a backup during the winter when solar thermal panels do not perform as well.

Do biomass boilers need lots of maintenance?

Biomass boilers do require some maintenance. Many manufacturers recommend servicing twice a year, although this is often included in the installation cost. Many systems have automatic fuel loading that removes the need to manually load fuel. You will need to remove the ash from the boiler, but this is as easy as emptying a vacuum cleaner.

Is a biomass boiler compatible with my existing central heating system?

Biomass boilers will work with existing central heating systems, presuming this is not decades old, whether they use radiators or under floor heating. A surveyor will check the existing system you have in place before quoting for or recommending a biomass boiler to you.

Do biomass boilers take up lots of space?

Many domestic biomass boilers are no bigger than a standard gas boiler. However, they do require a flue, a feeder and a space to store the fuel. These can be designed to suit many different properties and will fit in lots of homes or a garage or outbuilding.
