New Malden

New Malden is a residential area in southwest London, in the boroughs of Kingston and Merton. It is set 9.4 miles from Charing Cross, with nearby localities being Kingston upon Thames, Raynes Park, Surbiton, Tolworth, Wimbledon and Worcester Park. The town established wholly because of the coming of the train when New Malden Railway Station opened in 1846 on the primary line from Waterloo. The name arises from the prior village of old Malden, which was two miles to the south of the town, which translates from Old English as 'the cross on the hill'. Development of homes went off with a sluggish start, starting to accelerate nearer the end of the 19th century and the start of the 20th century after the building of both 2 and three bedroom terraced houses. From the 1930s, the construction of detached and semi-detached homes started. The town is home to a wide range of social, sports and leisure activities. The Malden Centre is a sports centre containing a swimming pool, a gym and community facilities, as well as offering adult learning courses. A football pitch, tennis courts, a children's recreation space, allotments and open space can be found at Beverley Park. In regards to shopping options, the 15000 residents of Malden have a range of independent and nationwide stores in which to go shopping. Established in 1913, Tudor Williams Ltd. is a family-run department store positioned in the High Street. The company has shops throughout England, most recently in Elphicks of Farnham and Knights of Reigate. Throughout the Christmas period of each year, the High Street is covered with lights, having its own switching-on ceremony. FAQs

Can I use a biomass boiler with other forms of heating?

Biomass boilers can be designed to work with other kinds of heating. The most common of these is solar thermal. This is a popular renewable energy pairing. Solar thermal heating will meet your hot water needs during the summer while a biomass boiler can operate as a backup during the winter when solar thermal panels do not perform as well.

Do biomass boilers take up lots of space?

Many domestic biomass boilers are no bigger than a standard gas boiler. However, they do require a flue, a feeder and a space to store the fuel. These can be designed to suit many different properties and will fit in lots of homes or a garage or outbuilding.

Is a biomass boiler compatible with my existing central heating system?

Biomass boilers will work with existing central heating systems, presuming this is not decades old, whether they use radiators or under floor heating. A surveyor will check the existing system you have in place before quoting for or recommending a biomass boiler to you.

Do biomass boilers need lots of maintenance?

Biomass boilers do require some maintenance. Many manufacturers recommend servicing twice a year, although this is often included in the installation cost. Many systems have automatic fuel loading that removes the need to manually load fuel. You will need to remove the ash from the boiler, but this is as easy as emptying a vacuum cleaner.
