Gas Boiler (Repair & Servicing) in Achnasheen

Looking for a central heating boiler repair or service in Achnasheen? Our engineers in Achnasheen will be able to offer you the best prices for getting a boiler repair or service carried out.

Boilers are one of the most significant parts of any home, offering heating and hot water throughout the year. This means any issues need to be handled before turning into a significant issue.

In the midst of winter it may cost a minimum of £200 simply in call-out costs for an engineer. This is ahead of the cost of replacing components.

To protect yourself from coughing up lots of money, ensure to get your boiler serviced yearly so any faults can be discovered as soon as possible. As well as this, having a service will make sure your boiler is running efficiently, reducing your bills.

The service will also showcase any danger too, such as a carbon monoxide leak. Carbon monoxide poisoning is accountable to hundreds of deaths and hospitalisations each year, so be certain this doesn't happen to you.

We are able to give you approximately four engineers, who'll provide quotations for the work. You'll receive a house visit from experts within Achnasheen who will offer the central heating boiler repair or service for a great price.

Achnasheen

Achnasheen is a small village located in Ross-shire inside the Highland council area of Scotland. The village is situated on the River Bran at the junction of two roads constructed by Thomas Telford. Based on the 2011 Census, the village has a permanent population of about 10000. In spite of the size of the village, Achnasheen is also the name of a postal district which covers many muchlarger communities. This includes Kinlochewe, Poolewe and Laide. Achnasheen being the name of a postal district appears to have originated from the time when the village railway station, which was constructed in 1870, was an essential stop on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line, serving a sizable region of Wester Ross. The railway continues to operate, but this mostly concerns the transportation of mail and freight. Most residents of the village, together with the village's guests, travel by road. Facilities in the village are restricted. Even so, there is a modest quantity of facilities for residents and visitors. This includes the Ledgowan Lodge Hotel, which is a mile west of the village. This is the village's only hotel after the Achnasheen Hotel, which was located by the railway station, burnt down in the early 1990s and has never undergone plans nor attempts to be rebuilt. For all of your residence upgrades, make sure that you employ trustworthy experts in Achnasheen to ensure that you get the most effective quality.

FAQs

Can I repair my own boiler?

No. You must never repair your own boiler – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer can do any work on your boiler. You can do simple DIY tasks to repressurise your boiler or stop a leak, but if you have to remove the outer casing of the boiler or touch the flue then you must get a qualified boiler engineer to take a look at your central heating system.

does home insurance cover boiler repairs?

Does Home Insurance Cover Boiler Repairs?

When winter comes, your boiler is most likely to be one of the most used appliances in your home. It keeps operating for several hours to ensure your house remains warm and conducive and then during those cold evenings, it supplies the much needed hot water to guarantee a restive night. But with so much usage and many moving parts, you’d naturally expect your boiler to breakdown at some point especially if it’s 7 years old or above. So what’s the next line of action when it happens, leaving your radiators off and water cold? With the likely high boiler repair cost, it’s only logical to consider whether your boiler repairs is covered by your home insurance.

In almost all situations, the standard home insurance will not provide coverage for the cost of repairing or replacing a broken boiler. Being fully aware that boiler breakdowns are mostly caused by a lack or not so regular maintenance practices or servicing, most home insurance providers will exclude it from this from their offerings. In fact, a home insurance is more likely to provide coverage for the damage that has happened as a result of a broken appliance. For instance, the damage caused as a result of gas, oil or water leaking from a boiler are more likely to be paid for by the home insurance providers, but they’ll not pay for the repair or replacement of the broken boiler itself.

If you need our home insurance to cover your boiler repair, then you might just be able to get an extra insurance cover from your provider that includes a broken boiler repair. You can consult them to determine if this is possible as well as the cost to be paid per month. This will normally cost about £5 to £10 per month, but it gives you a peace of mind knowing you’re covered if your boiler happens to breakdown.

How to repair a boiler leak?

If your boiler is leaking, there are some checks that you can do yourself. However, you should never attempt to repair your boiler yourself – only a Gas Safe-registered engineer should conduct repairs.

There are 3 main reasons why your boiler might be leaking: there’s a pressure valve fault, a temperature valve leak or corrosion in the system. An engineer will be able to spot the problem quickly, but in the meantime there are a few things you can do:

Check the pipe fittings

If your boiler is leaking water around the pipe fittings, it could be an installation fault and you should get in touch with the engineer that fitted it. You can check the pipe fittings by drying the area then waiting to see if the water appears again. If it does, you may be able to do a ¼ turn of the pipe to stop it. However, you should still call the engineer that installed it to ask them to check the PTFE tape on the inside.

Inspect the seals

Over time, the rubber seals on a boiler can start to perish, so if you have an old boiler this could be the source of your leak. If you have a new boiler, it could be caused by your boiler running over pressure.

Heat exchanger corrosion

Unfortunately, if a boiler engineer discovers that the boiler is leaking water from the heat exchanger, this is the end of the road for your system. The heat exchanger is the most expensive part of your boiler, so it makes more financial sense to replace your boiler with a newer, more efficient model rather than try to replace it.

How often should I have a boiler service?

You should have your boiler serviced every year. This ensures that your central heating system is running safely and efficiently, but it’s often also a requirement to keep your boiler’s warranty valid. To avoid disruption to your heating, the best time of year to service your boiler is the summer. You’ll often find that boiler companies will charge less because they have less work.
