Are you looking to upgrade your front door? There are several options available to you but none as well-liked as composite doorways. But why is this particular type of doorway the nation’s favourite and why should you consider this for your own household?
There are many reasons to choose a composite door. To start with they look fantastic and there is a wide variety of choice in the style and design to choose from. If you would like a modern appeal you'll be able to get exactly that, with contemporary designs to go together with the times. But if you prefer the overall appeal of standard front doors, you can also find Victorian, Georgian and Edwardian designs from which to choose.
On top of this you are able to choose a colour that beautifully complements your house. Whether you invest in a traditional white or black front door, or might prefer the bold red, blue or green, the final decision is up to you.
But why don't you consider the composite door’s additional features? In addition to a strong visual appearance, you take advantage of outstanding insulation and a hardwearing, resistant installation. The construction of the door makes certain heat is not able to pass thorough and leave your home, reducing your expensive energy bills.
Composite doorways are constructed to resist impacts and the weather too, lasting for decades with virtually no upkeep. A GRP (Glass reinforced plastic) skin helps to protect the front door making sure it continues to look great for a long time to come.

Abergavenny is a market town in Monmouthshire, Wales. It is roughly 15 miles west of Monmouth on two dual carriageways, and 6 miles from the English border. Unsurprisingly, the town is referred to as the 'Gateway to Wales'. Situated at the confluence of a tributary stream, the Gavenny and the River Usk, it is virtually completely surrounded by two mountains, the Blorenge and the Sugar Loaf, and 5 hills. It offers a route to the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons National Park. The Offa's Dyke Path is nearby and also the Marches Way, the Beacons Way and Usk Valley Walk all go through the town.
Historically the site of a Roman fort, Gobannium, it developed into a mediaeval walled town within the Welsh Marches. Based on the 2011 Census, the town features a permanent resident population of 10078. Within this population, around 10 per cent speak Welsh, seeming to have improved significantly from the two per cent recorded in 1991. The town boasts the remains of a mediaeval stone castle built shortly after the Noman conquest of Wales.
As a traditional market town, a wide selection of markets are held within the Market Hall, such as a retail market, a farmers' market, an antique fair as well as a craft fair. The town was also host to the 2016 National Eisteddfod of Wales, an annual celebration of the culture and language in Wales. It usually attracts over 150000 visitors and over 250 stalls every year.

Unlike several other complex multi choice products, composite door prices are no great mystery. However, it all depends on your personal preferences as well as your budget. There are a variety of customization options and extras, so you can easily select one that’s unique to your home. Composite doors offer you more colours, more styles, a greater choice of accessories as well as more glazing options. With the availability of a plethora of options in the market, it’s very hard to provide a precise price for a composite door as all the options play a significant role in the price structure.
• The Door’s Quality
Composite doors commonly comes with either a CFC-free insulating polyurethane (PU) foam or a laminated hardwood core. The price to be paid will depend on the quality of the composite with the laminated hardwood core being of more quality and ultimately, more expensive.
• Glazing Options
Between a coloured leaded glass double panel and a clear double-glazed panel there’s a huge price difference. And within these two extremes, there are also many other variables.
• Accessories
There are a world of choices when it comes to accessories in terms of the handle styles, letterplates, knockers and more. All playing a role in the price of the composite door.
• Locking System
A common feature of several composite doors is the multi point locking systems. However, the price, choice and security of the lock cylinder can be hugely different which also play a part in the price of the composite door.
• Location
Your geographical location plays an even more important part when you’re having your door installed. For instance, delivery in certain areas in the UK or finding tradesmen comes at a premium which is also shown in the price.
Do you have a composite door and wondering the best type of lock that can be used on your prized asset. To choose the right type of lock for a composite door, it’s of utmost importance to select one that’s designed to work perfectly with the composite configuration. By doing this, you’ll improve the security of your home while also achieving the desired look. To secure a composite door, the most common way is by incorporating a high security multipoint lock. Therefore, depending on the look you want for your door as well as how you want it to function, here are the four types of locks you can consider to go with your composite door.
• Split Spindle Lock
A split spindle lock would be your best bet if you’d like to automatically prevent access to your home from the outside. This lock allows you to open your door smoothly by utilizing the inside handle, however, you’ll need a key to turn the latch bolt to gain access back inside.
• Lever or Lever Lock
If you want an unhindered access in and out of your property, a lever lock gives you this opportunity without the need for a key until it’s totally deadlocked. The lever lock is installed to the back door which makes unauthorized entry even less likely.
• Slam Lock
If you’d prefer a super fast locking, then this lock type is your answer! It automatically triggers the lock hooks immediately you close the door - without having to lift the handle. However, to gain access to the inside of your home or bolt the door from the inside, you’ll need a key.
• Key Wind-Up Lock
This lock is wholly key operated and totally handle-free. Immediately the door is closed, the latch bolt will be automatically activated, ensuring that a key would be needed to gain access back inside.
A composite door is a valuable investment any homeowner would be glad to make due to its numerous benefits. Not only are they super energy efficient and good looking, but also exceptional when it comes to keeping your house warm and guaranteeing your safety and maximum security. They come in wide range of styles, colours as well as personalization options, which makes them one of the most popular and strongest door you can find in the market today. However, the question that hangs over the mind of many potential investors is how fade resistant are composite doors? Would the visual appeal remain intact for a long period of time or fade away after a few years of exposure to intense sun?
The last thing any homeower would want to see is a priced asset looking dull and tired only after a couple of years after installation. Owners of timber doors worry about having to re paint every couple of years. UPVC door owners worry that their doors can, at times, start to fade when exposed to a strong and intense sunlight. So what exactly do composite door owners worry about? The simple answer is absolutely nothing! Proud composite door owners only have to do a quick wash with a warm soapy water as upkeep for their long lasting and durable asset. This is because composite doors are typically made from Glass Reinforced Plastic outer skin which makes them highly resistant to the element. So whether it’s raining heavily or the sun is shining intensely, the colours of your beloved composite door will not fade and will remain exactly the same way it was when purchased. No matter what the UK weather throws at them, the reinforced plastic skin and robust core ensures the door remains water tight and in top condition always.
Composite front doors offer a wide range of benefits which includes numerous style and colour options, increased security, personalization options, durability as well as low maintenance requirements. However, with so many options available in the market, it’s also expected that the prices would vary greatly depending on many factors. These factors include the colour, style of the composite door, glazing option, door furniture as well as security locks.
• Colour - More popular and basic colours like white, blue and brown black are manufactured in mass, making them a bit lesser than the unusual colours as they usually go through an expensive colour mixing process.
• Style Of The Door - The most common and popular door styles are manufactured in large quantities and consequently, the cheaper option than the more complex styles. A good example is the six panel door that features two frosted glass inlays will definitely cost more than the four panel plain white composite door.
• Glazing Option - The glass type, design and panel size all play a huge role in determining the price. The more complex your glazing option is, the more money you’ll have to pay.
• Door Furniture - Several composite doors come with bespoke handles, letterplates and knockers to achieve your desired finish. The furniture additions on door can also play a huge role in influencing the overall cost of your composite door.
• Security Locks - Multi point locks typically comes as a standard. However, you might need to determine the type required by your as the quality and type can vary considerably.
Generally, to have a basic style composite door installed, you’ll have spend about £850 and above. And depending on the design requirements and glazing features you select, this price can increase significantly.
