Strathaven
Strathaven is a historical market town in South Lanarkshire, Scotland and also is the largest negotiation in Avondale. The community was granted a Royal Charter in 1450, making the Town of Strathaven a burgh of barony. The existing estimated population is 7,500. The community is located on the edge of the strath of the Avon Water, around 6 miles (10 kilometres) from Hamilton and 18 miles (29 km) from Glasgow. The A71, which attaches Edinburgh as well as Kilmarnock passes through the community. In the 2001 demographics the town had a population of 7,700. Strathaven has one secondary school and three primary schools - Kirklandpark Primary, Wester Overton Primary, and St Patrick's Primary. It also has a yard airfield about 2 miles (3 km) to the north west on Lethame Road.
