Bognor Regis

Bognor Regis is a seaside resort town and civil parish within the historic county of Sussex on the south coast of England. It is administratively within the Arun district of the non-metropolitan county of West Sussex, and suburbs of the town are the villages of Felpham, Alwick, and North and South Bersted. Although the town experiences an oceanic climate similar to the rest of the UK, it has over 1900 hours of sunshine on average, which is the highest recognised annual amount of sunshine in Britain. The coastal location of the town also lowers the risk of extreme temperatures. Since 1960, the temperatures recorded at Bognor have never dropped below -9.4C or risen above 31.5C, in comparison to other areas inside the Sussex Weald falling beneath -15 Celsius and rising above 35 Celsius. From 1864, many wealthy Victorian households appeared in the town and a seaside resort was subsequently created by Sir Richard Hotham. Since the beginning of the 1930s, an amusement park along with a zoo have been open in the area, and a holiday camp from the 1960s has led the town towards extra hotel accommodation with contemporary amenities. The population of Bognor steadily grown over the course of the twentieth century, being at 64,000 as per the 2011 census. The post-war period witnessed partial industrial redevelopment, especially in the 1960s soon after the creation of a brand new shopping parade, health centre and high-rise block of flats. The town centre is largely pedestrian friendly, making an extremely accessible purchasing experience for the town's inhabitants and tourists.
