Darvel or Dervel (population 3,361) is a village in East Ayrshire, Scotland. It goes to the eastern end of the Irvine Valley and also is sometimes referred to as "The Lang Toon" (English: the Long Town). The community's Latin motto, Non sibi sed cunctis, means "Except ourselves, but for others". Darvel is positioned on the A71 roadway that ranges from Irvine on the west coastline to Edinburgh on the eastern. The town is 9 miles (14 kilometres) eastern of Kilmarnock and also is the most eastern of the Valley Towns, the others being Galston and Newmilns.
