Barnehurst
Barnehurst is a town and district in South East London inside the London Borough of Bexley. It's north east of Bexleyheath, and is 13 miles east south-east of Charing Cross. It's separated from North Bexleyheath by the A220 Erith Road.
The town was established following the sale of land in 1881 to create the Bexleyheath loop line between Lewisham and Dartford. Its name stems from the name of the railway station, which was named after Colonel Barne, who owned a local property and was vice-chairman of the railway company. These days, the railway station runs trains in between London Charing Cross, London Victoria or London Cannon Street, via Lewisham and Eltham to the west and Dartford railway station to the east. There are 12 trains per hour throughout the week; on Sundays, there are four trains every hour. The railway station was openedto encourage the creation of houses. The Barnehurst Estate was built in 1926 which housed several people.
As well as the railway station, Barnehurst is served by 5 buses, one of which goes to the well-liked Bluewater Shopping Centre. There are few shopping or leisure opportunities in the town, so individuals usually go to surrounding places working with public transport links or the main roads.
Barnehurst is property to the non-league football club Phoenix Sports FC, which plays at Phoenimx Sports Ground.
