South Brent

South Brent (population 2,822) is a large town on the southerly side of Dartmoor, England, in the valley of the River Avon. The parish consists of the small communities of Aish, Harbourneford, Lutton, Brent Mill, and also numerous scattered farmhouses. It is five miles (8 km) north-east of Ivybridge and 14 miles (22 km) east-northeast of Plymouth. On the high moorlands are numerous hut circles, enclosures, and barrows, all dating from the Bronze Age. The estate of Brent came from Buckfast Abbey from the time of the foundation of the abbey in the very early 11th century. It was bought at the Dissolution by Sir William Petre, a large receiver of reclusive spoils in South Devon. South Brent was initially a woollen and also market centre with two yearly fairs. Brent Hill is the high hillside just outside the town from which it takes its name (Old English brant-- steep). On it are the damages of an ancient structure, meant to have actually been a chapel, and also of a windmill developed concerning 1790.

how to fit a upvc door?

In the past traditional door were usually made from wood and they’re normally good enough at doing the job they were required to do. However, with the advent of far more effective door building materials such as the affordable composites and UPVC, wooden doors are no longer in vogue. Being strong enough to provide the required security for home, low maintenance requirement as well as offering a strong seal and great insulating qualities, both UPVC and composite doors are among the most poplar options available in the market today. So if you’re looking to install a UPVC door in your home or property, you’d probably be wondering how to go about the task. Well, you’ve come to the right place! We’d recommend you hire the services of a professional door installer who can guarantee the best results especially if you lack proper training and experience to complete the job. In this guide, however, you’ll given a good insight into the UPVC door installation process.

• Take the measurement of the entrance to ensure the new door is the right size.

• Remove the old frame and wipe out any old mortar, sealant and any other debris.

• Resting the sill on the brickwork, make use of packers and spirit level to put the new frame in place. Check that the frame is placed the right way with drainage holes at the bottom and also level.

• Once the frame has been successfully put in place, the next line of action is to secure it. To do this, simply drill a hole through the frame. Use a masonry drill through the pilot hole and into the brickwork and ensure a tight fit with the help of packers, then put the anchor into place. Once done, make use of the fixing screw to secure the frame.

• Upon completion, you then have to put the door into place. Make sure the door is toed and heeled so as to avoid unnecessary issues in the future.

what is a patio door?

As you would have guessed, patio doors are exactly what the name suggests. They mainly act as a means by which you can access your patio from inside your house. As a result, they’re mostly fitted at the rear of your home which leads out to the garden and ultimately, the patio. In recent times, it’s mostly unlikely to see patio doors installed in homes without patios or homes with deckings instead. Generally, patio doors feature large floor to ceiling windows that are able to offer a wide open view of your garden as well as patio. In short, these characteristics are what mainly makes them unique from other normal exterior doors.

There are different types of patio doors which you can choose from and all with their own unique installation costs.

• Sliding Doors

Due to their space saving qualities, this type of sliding door are a popular choice amongst homeowners. As the name suggests, they basically slide across panels rather than opening in or out. This style also comprises the most significant windows which gives you a wider and clearer view of your garden while also allowing more natural light into the house.

• French Doors

Offering a standard design with two different panels with each able to swing wide open on its own, the French door is a conventional style door popular amongst traditionalists. French doors are generally stylish and very energy efficient, however they tend to consume more space within your home. It comes with several designs and a variety of colours to choose from.

• Bifold Doors

Bifold doors are the ideal choice if you want a more modern style for your home. These doors almost folds itself whether open or closed. Generally, they move along a track similar to sliding doors, but each panel folds when open. Here, you’re still offered the floor to ceiling wide open windows which further makes the overall effect even more special.
