Annan
Annan is a community and previous royal burgh in Dumfries and also Galloway, south-west Scotland. Historically part of Dumfriesshire, its public buildings consist of Annan Academy, of which the writer Thomas Carlyle was a pupil, as well as a Georgian structure now called "Bridge House". The City center was integrated in Victorian design in 1878, using the regional sandstone. Annan also includes a Historic Resources Centre. In Port Street, some of the home windows continue to be blocked up to stay clear of paying the window tax obligation. Annually on the initial Saturday in July, Annan celebrates the Royal Charter as well as the boundaries of the Royal Burgh are validated when a placed cavalcade takes on the Riding of the Marches. Entertainment consists of a procession, sporting activities, field screens as well as massed pipeline bands.
