Tywyn
Tywyn, formerly spelled Towyn, is a town, neighborhood, and also seaside resort on the Cardigan Bay shore of southern Gwynedd, Wales. It was previously in the historical area of Merionethshire. It is popular as the location of the Cadfan Stone, a stone cross with the earliest known example of created Welsh, and the residence of the Talyllyn Railway. At the time of the 2001 census, 40.5% of the population were recorded as Welsh speakers. By the 2011 census this had actually decreased to 37.5%. These relatively high figures (given the town's demography) mirror the use of both Welsh and also English as the medium of guideline in Ysgol Penybryn, the town's primary school. An Estyn inspection record in 2010 kept in mind that about 11% of the children at the school originated from houses where Welsh was the primary language.
