Banbridge

The town of Banbridge is within Northern Ireland's County Down. It's positioned on the River Bann along with a dual carriageway, with its name coming from a bridge that was built to cross the River Bann in 1712. It is a part of the civil parish of Seapatrick plus the historic barony of Iveagh Upper, Upper Half. Banbridge is at the moment the administrative base for the Banbridge District Council. As per the 2011 Census, the town has a population of approximately 16653. It's classed as a medium town and of the population, 24.4 percent were under 16 years old, 16.1% were over 60 years of age, and 49.5 percent were male, leaving 50.5% as female. In its early years, the town was a coach stop on the road between Belfast and Dublin, and it prospered in the production process of Irish linen. A noteworthy part of the town is its distinctive main street, which rises to a steep hill before levelling out. An underpass had to be built in 1834 because of the steep street causing horses carrying heavy loads to faint before they could get to the top of the hill. Constructed by William Dargan, it is officially called the Downshire Bridge, despite the fact that it's frequently known as 'The Cut'. The town is widely identified for being close to the Bronte Homeland in Rathfriland, attracting numerous guests who visit this location. A further attraction is the annual busking festival, 'Buskfest', which has been running since 2004. Participants have often travelled lengthy distances to busk, and also the event ends with an evening concert consisting of performances by established artists. For all your home improvement tasks, make certain that you utilise reputable professionals in Banbridge to make sure you get the top quality service.

How should I prepare for interior painting and decorating work?

Your painter and decorator will carry out most of the preparation work for your project. You can help them by ensuring that the area is clean and tidy. Also, remove as many personal items and pieces of furniture from the area as possible and make sure all your internal doors are firmly closed just in case of dust from rubbing down.

can you paint over wallpaper?

Can You Paint Over A Wallpaper?

According to some painting and decoration experts, painting over a wallpaper can never produce a result that’ll be as good as painting on a blank or naked wall. However in the event whereby there’s a pressing need to quickly beautify a room, it’ll be totally understandable if you don’t want to go through the hassle of the time consuming old wallpaper removal process.

Therefore, the short and simple answer to this question is yes, it’s absolutely possible to paint over a wallpaper and get a good outcome so far you don’t rush the process. To ensure your success if you want to paint over a wallpaper, there’s also the need to use the right tools and techniques. And just like any other DIY project, proper preparation before commencement is key.

If you’re going to paint over a wallpaper, many of the tools you’ll need to acquire are the standard painting and decorating products. This means that they can be easily procured at many DIY stores. To paint over a wallpaper, you’ll need a paint roller, top quality paint brushes, joint compound ( you’ll only need this in situations whereby your wallpaper is damaged or peeling), oil based primer, tape, sandpaper, paint ( can be water, solvent or oil based paints) as well as drop clothes ( for the protection of your furnitures).

As a rule of thumb, if you can easily remove the existing wallpaper, then you probably should before you start to paint the walls. However, if removing the wallpaper seems to be a pain or can significantly damage your wall, then it’ll be smart to simply paint over it. But before you proceed, you must also note that painting over the wallpaper will make it even harder to remove later in the future.

To ensure that your paint project doesn’t end up being disastrous, the most important place to start is from room preparation which includes cleaning, sanding as well as priming the walls before painting. Then leave to dry off properly.

✓ Remove mildrew. Wipe out mildrew using a sponge and solution that’s three to four parts water to one part bleach. Apply this solution and scrub the affected surface with a soft brush.

✓ Sanding. This step is only meant for walls with rough spots on its surface. Dull the uneven spots with a sandpaper, wipe away the dust and leave to dry. Use a fine grit sandpaper to sand the surfaces and let it dry properly.

✓ Priming. Prime the wall to get the most out of your paint. They work to disguise imperfections and create a smooth surface on which you can work on.

Finally, remove the masking tape used before the paint dries off.
