Parquet Flooring in Manchester

Parquet flooring is a variety of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to make a distinctive pattern over the entirety of the floor. Parquet was traditionally installed with each individual strip meticulously laid, but modern parquet is available in bigger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring option which is best suited for large rooms or hallways where the eye-catching pattern can be best exhibited. Parquet is available in a multitude of different patterns, the most popular of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can be manufactured from an enormous array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor comes in either solid wood or engineered wood styles, the latter of which incorporate several sheets of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and requires little maintenance. It is, however, not suitable for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or bend under these conditions. Parquet is commonly installed by using a series of tiles that are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet flooring company will be able to suggest the most suitable wood types and designs for your home.
