Parquet Flooring in Glasgow

Parquet flooring is a type of wood flooring where small wood blocks or strips are installed alongside one another to generate a distinctive design across the whole of the floor. Parquet was historically installed with each individual strip painstakingly laid, but modern parquet is available in larger tiles or planks to offer the same appearance. Parquet floor is an extremely stylish flooring product which works best in large rooms or hallways where the appealing design can be best exhibited. Parquet comes in a multitude of different styles, the most common of which are herringbone, chevron or checkerboard. Parquet can also be manufactured from a huge array of different woods, but oak is the most common, accompanied by mahogany, maple and cherry. Modern parquet floor may come in either solid wood or engineered wood varieties, the latter of which feature several layers of wood with a fibre board core and a top layer of the desired appearance of hardwood. Parquet flooring is durable and needs little maintenance. It is, however, inappropriate for areas that contain lots of moisture or humidity as the wood will warp or flex under these conditions. Parquet is often installed utilising a series of tiles which are fixed to the subfloor with an adhesive. An experienced parquet floor company can suggest the most appropriate wood types and patterns for your home.
