There are numerous variables that can play a role in the design and preparing of a new commercial roof and the expense will all depend upon the size and style you go for.

Thermoplastic roofing is particularly popular. This type of roofing is made from a resilient material with high temperature tolerance. The material is a favourite for commercial rooftops because it's resistant to uv and chemical substance exposure. The roofing lasts for more than 20 years, having a terrific resistance for fire, punctures and high wind loads.

Kenilworth

Kenilworth is a town and civil parish in the county of Warwickshire. It is located on Finham Brook, a tributary to the River Sowe, which joins the River Avon almost two miles north-east of the centre of the town. The 2011 Census reported that the town has a population of 22413. Being 5 miles south-west of Coventry's city centre, Kenilworth is characterised as a dormitory town for commuters to Coventry, as well as to other close-by cities and large towns, such as Birmingham and Leamington Spa. Though it is near to the University of Warwick in Coventry, the student population of the town is relatively modest, consisting mostly of postgraduate students and staff at the university. The town is especially popular for the ruins and gorgeous gardens of Kenilworth Castle, which was established around 1120 in the Norman period, but continued to be inhabited until the end of the Tudor period. After 1983, Kenilworth Rotary Club has organised a fun run in June in between Warwick Castle and Kenilworth Castle, referred to as the Two Castles Run, which brings in increasing numbers of attendees, with 3000 entrants in 2010 and 4000 in 2011. Kenilworth Abbey in Abbey Fields Park, St. Nicholas' Parish Church, and Kenilworth Clock, alongside The Cross, a Michelin Star pub, are additionally attractive places for tourists and visitors to the town. Kenilworth is home to lots of independent merchants and businesses, but the streets are progressively filled by high street stores, offering its inhabitants and visitors many possibilities to shop. For all your house upgrades, make sure to make usage of reliable specialists in Kenilworth to make certain of quality.

FAQs

What is commercial roofing?

Commercial roofing simply refers to any roofing work, including installation and repair, that is done to commercial buildings. This might include office roofs, shop roofs or commercial unit roofs. Every building needs a roof to keep out the rain!

Since looks aren’t usually the first priority with commercial buildings, lots of commercial properties have flat roofs. These are often made from felt, EDPM rubber or fibreglass. Felt is the cheapest commercial roofing material, while fibreglass tends to be the most expensive. In felt roofs, roofers use an adhesive to stick roofing felt onto a frame. EDPM rubber roofs have a rubber membrane that is laid down and glued onto the roof and coated with a contact adhesive, while fibreglass uses a cut glass fibre mat that is pressed on before a resin and topcoat are applied.

Not all roofing companies will offer commercial roofing services, because generally the buildings tend to be bigger. Small companies won’t have enough tradespeople to work on a roof without making it very expensive for you. Commercial buildings also tend to need more scaffolding to make it safe for the professionals to work, so some smaller roofing companies won’t offer commercial services. Make sure you check a company’s website or social media if you’re looking for commercial roofing – on the Quotatis Directory, our roofers will show whether they do commercial roofing to make your search easier.

Why do commercial buildings have flat roofs?

There are a few reasons why commercial buildings often have flat roofs. Lots of people argue that flat roofs aren’t as attractive as pitched roofs, which is why it’s uncommon to see a residential property with an entirely flat roof. Lots of commercial buildings don’t need to look attractive, so go for flat roofs because they’re cheaper.

Flat roofs tend to be less expensive than pitched roofs, especially for large, broad commercial buildings. Some commercial buildings simply couldn’t have a pitched roof because their width would mean that the roof would have to be extremely high. Flat roofs are also cost-effective for commercial buildings because it means that air conditioning and ventilation units can go on the roof, saving space in and around the building.

Commercial buildings also often have flat roofs because they don’t need the loft space that residential properties need. If there’s no need for the space, it doesn’t make sense to spend more money on a pitched roof just to keep the attic space empty. Flat roofs also give the commercial building owner the opportunity to use the space as a smoking area for employees or give access to fire escapes to upper floors.

If you’re having a commercial property build, make sure you speak to the experts about the type of roof that is suitable for you. If you’re planning on having air conditioning or ventilation systems installed within the property, you might be best off with a flat roof – but if you need some extra storage space, a pitched roof might work best for you.

How much does it cost to replace a commercial roof?
How much it costs to replace a commercial roof depends on the type of roof you have and the size of your commercial property. Lots of commercial buildings have flat roofs, which are often made from felt, asphalt, EDPM rubber or fibreglass, while others are pitched roofs that might be made from tiles, shingle or metal. It’s likely that your commercial roof will need replacing if it’s more than 25 years old. A roofer can carry out an inspection to determine what, if any, work is needed, but there’s a high chance that you’ll need a roof replacement if it’s that old. If your flashing is looking worse for wear or you’re missing a number of tiles or shingles, it might be time to replace your commercial roof. So how much does it cost to replace a commercial roof? If your commercial roof is pitched, expect to spend between £4,500 and £7,500. It all depends on how large your property is and how easy access is, as the more scaffolding you need, the more it will cost. If your commercial property has a flat roof, the average cost would be approximately £4,500. Again, it all depends on the material, access and how large the roof is. Felt costs between £40-70 per square metre, while fibreglass costs between £80-110. Whatever type of commercial roof you have or what it’s made from, make sure you get a few quotes from reputable roofing companies so you know that the job will be done well.

How long does it take to fix a roofing sheet on a commercial property?

How long it takes to fix a roofing sheet on a commercial property will depend on the size of your roof and how difficult access is. Corrugated iron roofing sheets are much easier to fit than other roofing materials such as clay tiles or EDPM rubber, so that will work in your favour.

The size of the team of the roofing company you engage will also make a difference. If they have a lot of tradespeople working on your roof with lots of experience, it will take less time, while if there are only a couple of people it will take longer.

Another thing to bear in mind when considering how long it will take to fix a roofing sheet is the weather. If it starts to rain, the contractors will probably have to stop and wait, as the roof will be too slippery to work on.

In general, it should take between 1 and 3 days to fit roofing sheets on a commercial property. If you’re not having a full roof replacement, it may only take one day, whereas a completely new metal roof could take up to 3 days.
