Tywyn
Tywyn, previously spelled Towyn, is a town, community, and also seaside resort on the Cardigan Bay coastline of southern Gwynedd, Wales. It was previously in the historical area of Merionethshire. It is well-known as the place of the Cadfan Stone, a rock cross with the earliest well-known example of created Welsh, and the residence of the Talyllyn Railway. At the time of the 2001 census, 40.5% of the population were recorded as Welsh audio speakers. By the 2011 census this had decreased to 37.5%. These reasonably high figures (given the town's demography) show the use of both Welsh and English as the tool of instruction in Ysgol Penybryn, the community's primary school. An Estyn examination report in 2010 kept in mind that about 11% of the kids at the college originated from houses where Welsh was the main language.
