Stump grinding refers to the process where the stump of a felled tree is taken out. Often during tree felling a few inches of the trunk and the root system are kept in the ground, making the local area impractical to use and also possibly enticing bugs or harbouring tree diseases like honey fungus. If your back yard has stumps in the earth, having them cleared could clear the location, providing you with additional space that could be used to broaden your lawn or create fresh areas to install patio or decking. Competent stump grinding companies can clear away stumps of any size.

The operation ordinarily includes trimming the stump as low to the ground as possible working with a chainsaw, and afterwards employing specialist stump grinding devices to grind away the stump. Stumps are ground down to around 10-12 inches below the ground surface to permit replanting, however sometimes landscaping projects may need the stump to be ground deeper than this. The wood chippings that are generated by the stump grinding may be either infilled back into the hole and used as compost in other areas of your garden, or the stump grinding company can remove it for you and dispose of it in an eco-friendly manner. Also, lots of professional stump grinding companies have specialist small equipment that may be employed if there is restricted access to your garden for example, via a side alleyway.
