Aberdour
Aberdour is a historic village on the south coast of Fife, Scotland. It is sometimes called the Jewel of Fife because of its charming scenery. It had a population of 1633 in the 2001 census. It lies between the larger towns of Burntisland and Dalgety Bay.
The village's name comes from the Pictish, which indicates that Aberdour has been settled since the Dark Ages. Until the 19th century when the railway arrived, Aberdour was actually split in two villages. The railway has won various 'best kept station' awards, and the ticket inspectors were known for singing down the carriages. It is a 30-minute train ride to Edinburgh from Aberdour, which increased its popularity with commuters.
In the middle of the village lies Aberdour Castle. It was a little hall house overlooking the Dour Burn in the 13th century. The oldest part of it that remains is one of the oldest surviving stone castles in mainland Scotland. Near to the castle is St Fillan's church which is one of the most well-preserved medieval parish churches in Scotland.
If you need a replacement boiler for your home in Aberdour, you should look at a minimum of three quotations from reliable engineers.
