Bingley
Bingley is a market town within the metropolitan borough of the City of Bradford located in West Yorkshire, England. The town sits on the River Aire and also the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and is located in Airedale to the south of Ilkley Moor. The population has recently witnessed a drop, having a population of around 20,000 in 2001 and decreasing to roughly 18,294 in the 2011 Census. The definition of the town's name is translated as 'Bing's Clearing' and is Saxon in origin. The town's first settlement served the ford across the River Aire at the narrowest point of the Aire Valley, and Ireland Bridge was created in 1986 with the intention of replacing the ford. A great deal of the older history of the town continues to be present in the town, for example the Bingley Grammar School, founded in the 16th century, which is believed to be one of the oldest schools in the country. Bingley contains an abundance of local stores, a street market, banks as well as the 'Little Theatre'. There are also efficient transport links available, with a railway station situated in the town centre and the Leeds Bradford Airport being in close proximity to the town. Barges on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal pass the Bingley Five Rise Locks, with tourists often viewing barges navigating the locks. As a result of its mostly unspoilt habitat, walking and cycling in the town proves popular, and golfers can play at the Bingley St. Ives Golf Club. A yearly music festival, Bingley Music Live, is hosted from Myrtle Park, offering an array of top quality music which attracts a considerable audience. For all of your home improvement jobs, make certain that you choose trusted pros in Bingley to make sure you get the most effective quality service.
