Fencing in Inveraray

Are you interested in getting fencing installed in Inveraray? Using the Quotatis service you're able to compare up to 4 fence contractors in order to get the best deal available for the job you need.

Fencing is important for all households whether it be the front or back garden. From maintenance work to a total installation of new fencing, employing a respected company is highly encouraged to get the best price available.

Fences work as a boundary to our homes and with an installation you'll add security to your house and prevent easy access to the back garden. Back garden fences are traditionally around 6 feet high, which right away makes it more difficult for intruders to gain entry.

Decorative fences or wooden picket fencing tend to be suitable for the front garden, where security isn't as paramount. Instead, you're more likely to pick a front garden fence particularly for decoration in order to add something different.

For whatever kind of fencing you're wanting to have installed, make certain to use our free and no obligation service to get the best deal available in Inveraray.

Inveraray

Inveraray is a town in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is on the western coast of Loch Fyne, near its head, and on the A83 road. It is a previous royal burgh, the old county town of Argyll, and ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll. According to population estimations in 2010, the town has a population of around 603 people. The end product was an appealing town that included homes for estate workers, a woollen mill, and a pier to capitalise on herring fishing, which was to mushroom in later years to play a notable role in the town's economy. Much of the town's progression occurred in the late 18th century. The finished product is among the very best examples of an 18th-century new town in Scotland, and the majority of the residential properties in the centre of Inveraray are considered deserving of protection thanks to of the town's architectural significance. There are a number of well known spots in Inveraray. Apart from the castle, the Georgian Inveraray Jail in the burgh is now a museum. Other interests feature the Argyll Folk Museum at Auchindrain. The Celtic Inveraray Cross can also been seen in the town. The iron sailing ship Arctic Penguin is moored at the pier, along with the Clyde puffers VIC 72, Vital Spark. The Bell Tower overlies the town, and holds the second-heaviest ring of 10 bells worldwide. The bell tower is open to the general public, and the bells are sounded frequently. In autumn 2014, PBS premiered a series, Great Estates of Scotland. Inveraray was presented in one episode, as was the present Duke of Argyll, head of the Campbell clan. For all of your home renovations, make certain to find trusted contractors in Inveraray to make certain of quality.

    FAQs

Do I need to tell my neighbours if I’m going to replace my fence?

It’s a good idea to talk to your neighbours before you start any work to avoid confusion along the way. But if the fence is definitely your responsibility and on your property, there’s no legal obligation to notify them. It’s also a myth that you need to erect a fence with the flush side without posts facing your neighbour’s property.

How close can I build to my neighbour’s fence?

As a home or property owner, you’re generally allowed to build next to your neighbour’s fence as long as it’s on your own side of the property. With that in mind, there are certain laws that regulate how close a fence can be built to buildings on the same lot or neighbouring lots. In addition, there are also local bylaws that provide limitations on the placements as well as height of fences so as to address safety hazards. In this post, we’re going to give you a good insight into how close you can build to your neighbour. Let’s take a look!

In general, if the fence is in your boundary then you’re allowed to build a 2-metre high brick or wooden fence or wall. However, this may differ depending on your location in the UK. As a result, you may want to reach out to your municipality’s building department in order to determine what these rules and limitations are in your area. In the events whereby there are no such restrictions but you’re still concerned, you can try informing your neighbour what your concerns are. However, if they’re not receptive there are some steps you can take to ensure your plans go as smoothly as possible. These steps include the following:

    • Ensure to leave sufficient space for both the posts and footings
    • Stagger your fence posts in order to make sure you’re not digging your neighbour’s
    • Consider using concrete posts as they’re much stronger and will last a lot longer
    • Use kickers or plinths for raised gardens and flower beds
    • Make use of concrete plinths as they won’t rot over time like a wooden fence.
What do I need to do to maintain my fence?

Properly erected fences shouldn’t require a great deal of maintenance. Any rotting boards can usually be replaced without replacing the whole panel. Timber fencing should be stained every 2-3 years. General maintenance is something you can carry out yourself, however, larger works may need a qualified professional to come in.

What is the cheapest fence to install?

The cheapest fence to install is, generally, a pressure-treated pine wooden fence at around £20 per linear foot. This includes the materials and labour costs. Wire fencing is technically cheaper at around £5 per foot, but it’s not a great material to use in homes as it looks unsightly and doesn’t provide any privacy.
