Elland is a market town in Calderdale, in the English county of West Yorkshire. It is situated south of Halifax, near the River Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation. Quarried close to the town after the establishment of the canal, durable flagstones were brought cheaply around the country. Elland was the the home of the principal factory of the manufacturer of Gannex goods and it is currently the the home of the Dobsons sweet factory, which makes a selection of traditional kinds of boiled sweets.
