Ascot is an affluent small town in the eastern region in the English county of Berkshire. It is situated six miles (9.7 km) south of Windsor, four miles (6.4 kilometres) east of Bracknell and 25 miles (40 km) west of London. The town is made up of three places: Ascot itself, North Ascot and South Ascot. According to the 2001 Census, Ascot has a permanent population of about 11603. The town is most well-known for being the place of Ascot Racecourse, home of the famous Royal Ascot meeting.
